Free extended warranty"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I recently came across <a href=\"http:\/\/masteryourcard.com\/blog\/2009\/11\/05\/dont-pay-the-geek-squad-extended-warranty-is-free-through-visa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this article<\/a>, that states that it usually doesn\u2019t make sense to buy the extended warranty at (for example) Best Buy, because most credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, and American Express) offer extended warranties provided you bought the item with the card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, for kicks, I went through the process to see what it\u2019d take. First, go <a href=\"http:\/\/usa.visa.com\/personal\/cards\/benefits\/bft_warranty_mgr_eclaims.html\">Visa\u2019s Warranty Manger page<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"244\" height=\"191\" src=\"https:\/\/poojanblog.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/image.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-674\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Then, from there, you\u2019ll go through a secure connection that asks you to register your card:<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"376\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/poojanblog.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/image1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-675\" srcset=\"https:\/\/poojanblog.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/image1.png 376w, https:\/\/poojanblog.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/image1-235x300.png 235w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 376px) 100vw, 376px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>I paused here for a moment, because even though the site is secure (the text in the location bar starts with <span style=\"font-family: Courier;\">https:\/\/<\/span>), it points to <a title=\"https:\/\/portal.newcorp.com\/visaclaims\/servlet\/VisaClaimsProcessRunner?USER_ACTION=ShowWelcome\" href=\"https:\/\/portal.newcorp.com\/visaclaims\/servlet\/VisaClaimsProcessRunner?USER_ACTION=ShowWelcome\">https:\/\/portal.newcorp.com\/visaclaims\/servlet\/VisaClaimsProcessRunner?USER_ACTION=ShowWelcome<\/a>. I\u2019m not sure who <em>newcorp<\/em> is.
